Pedestrian Crossings

Keeping Our Pupils Safe. Cavan County Council have committed to installing an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing at the front of the school.  They will also paint double yellow lines and highlight the area approaching the crossing.  This will be a major upgrade on what we had on the road previously.  It should improve the safety for our pupils coming to and from school.  However it is of course dependent on improved driver behaviour from a small number of parents who continue to stop at our front gates and, or park outside the old school car park, making it difficult to see small children and hindering access to the footpath for parents with buggies.

In the interim we will continue to channel pupils out through one gate and encourage them the use the pedestrian crossing.  This system works well, however we had an issue yesterday with a small number of parents who insisted on parking in our school grounds because it was wet.  This makes it more challenging to ensure your child exits the school safely.
